These two illnesses are both forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and they affect about 1 in 400 people in the United Kingdom.

Action Medical Research funds vital research into a host of illnesses including Parkinson’s, MRSA, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Premature birth and Crohn’s disease to name but a few. They have been funding life changing work for more than 55 years and were the charity that were instrumental in the development of the polio vaccine, the first EVER hip replacement and the use of ultrasound scanning in pregnancy! They do not receive any statutory funding at all and rely entirely on voluntary giving to fund their pioneering work, which affects so many people!
