Reason For Trip: For many years my wife Emma has been suffering from Crohn’s Disease, so along with our other chosen charities, I’m very pleased to be raising funds for the National Association for Crohn’s and Colitis. The three of us got together last summer and banded about ideas for possible challenges, it remained just an idea for sometime until the sudden loss of a close friend spurred us to actually put our saddles where our mouths are. I’ll be sure to sneak in a few cheeky pints for Alex along the way.

Reason For Trip: Apart from the obvious reasons of challenging myself and raising money for the various good causes we collectively chose, I recently realised that I have not really experienced the United Kingdom at any detailed level, and what better way to do so than ride through it! I am particularly looking forward to cycling the length of Loch Ness. I also have a deep aversion to cycling in anything other than what can be called beautiful sunny weather and am bitterly disappointed that my first choice of a charity cycle ride through The Bahamas was ignored due to the impracticalities of such a trip.

Reason For Trip: This is an exciting challenge, a opportunity to do something that I will really enjoy, to share the experience with a couple of close mates and to raise money for three great charities whose work positively impact many of our lives. I must admit there are a number things that I am not looking forward to, the three at the top of the list have to be the punishing training regimes, the amount of lycra involved and Fordy's jokes!

Reason For Trip: Someone very close to me suffers very badly from Myalgic Encephalopathy, therefore the charity I have chosen has a particular resonance with me, I also enjoy physical challenges so the sheer scope of a ride from John '0 Groats to Land's End is very appealing. I also have had to find a new hobby recently after Carol Smillie issued a restraining order for impersonating her on the infamous Cash in The Attic episode, which ended in tragedy. Also, I feel the minor fact that I live with the embarrassment that my only claim to fame of 15 minutes on GMTV with Timmy Mallet.
